Commodity Exchanges Around The World

Commodities around the world include over a dozen major exchanges and each are specialized. Established in 1848 is the Chicago Board of Trade and it trades in agricultural and financial contracts. Corn, wheat and soybeans were the beginning commodities but it now offers a lot more. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange is been running for more than a hundred years. They trade in hogs, lumber, milk, cattle, port bellies, butter and fertilizer. Today it is a stock index marketplace as well as interest rate and foreign exchange.
The New York Mercantile Exchange. In the United States, it is one of the oldest exchanges. Metal products and petroleum are their specialities. Still in New York is the New York Board of Trade as was the first commodity exchange in this country. It trades many agricultural items along with coffee, frozen orange juice, sugar, cocoa and cotton.
London and Japan how their exchanges as well, for example, LCE and TOCOM. Everything is traded today, from the crazy to the mundane.
